    Hi guys, good video but just to clarify, maxtrax do sell a linking system. Also it looked like you did the sand recovery from the same place. To me this would have compacted the sand a bit before you got to the exitrax so not a fair test. Happy to be corrected.

    As of today (6/5/2024) Maxtrax is on sale for $259 vs $229 for Exitrax ultimate. With this smaller price difference, would you buy the Maxtrax or Exitrax? I’m undecided and would love to hear both of your opinions. Thank you for this video, because I have not heard of Exitrax before this video.

    I liked your test, certainly some eye openers. I just purchased some ARB TredProBobs and can't wait to test them. As an ice fisherman in MN, I'm concerned about the temp ratings, but have been looking for an un-stuck solution for essentially a lifetime. Coming from taking out the floor mats or keeping sand, this seemed like the best option in conjunction to their tow straps. Things are just about to kick off, so I'll send a follow-up.

      Hi Jarrah you can, however turning an air compressor on under load can add extra strain on the motor. Using the bypass controller will ease this additional load and extend the life of your compressor.

    WHAT HE IS SAYING IS NOTHING MORE THAN WHAT HE HEARD ON INFOMERCIALS HE DOSE NOT KNOW WHAT HIS TALKING ABOOUT... BOTH ROPES CANT CAUSE DAMAGE WHEN A SNAP OCCURS AND WIRE ROPE CANT BE FIX AND REPAIR ON THE JOB WITH A LITTLE EFORT AND BASIC WIRE KNOWLEDGE AND SYNTETIC ROPE IS RATED HIGHER BUT ONLY ON STRAIGH AND EVENLY BALANCE PULLS WICH IS ALWAYS THE CASE IN OFF ROADING ......... SYNTETIC ROPE IS FOR PUSSYS LIKE YOU WHO DONT LIKE A LITTLE HEAVY WORK WHEN PULLING OUT THE CABLE AND ARE AFRAID OF HURTING YOUR FINGER NAILS ON THE WIRE ROPE, O AND ARE TO FUCKING STUPID TO FIX A WIRE ROPE YOU OVIOUSLY DONT KNOT THE FIRST THING ABOUT LAWS OF PHYSICS WORK. WIRE CABLE IS HARDER TO WORK WITH BECAUSE OF ITS LACK OF FLEXIBILITY AND ITS WEIGHT BUT YOU BET YOUR ASS THAT YOU CAN YANK ON IT FULL THROTTLE WITH OUT IT BREAKING..... SO TO SUMMARIZE MY POINT ---------YOUR A FUCKING JOKE

    I think synthetic has been way over-hyped. Yes, it's lighter and more pleasant to work with, but I think those are the only clear benefits. It may be stronger under LABORATORY conditions, but in off road use it sure seems to be more prone to failure than steel. Videos of winch lines failing are ten (maybe twenty) to one synthetic, so it's a good thing it stores less energy. I suspect the average user is much more likely to experience a failure with synthetic than steel which sort of negates its "safety" attributes (a flying winch line isn't the only potential hazard if the line snaps in use). Everything about off roading is bad for it: UV, mud/dirt/dust/sand, sharp edges, rock abrasion, heat, and cold (it'll turn into a useless block of ice on the drum). It's high maintenance and damn expensive, particularly if you have to replace it every few years. Neither will tolerate straight abuse, but I think steel is more reliable in the real world, and certainly more tolerant of doing actual work with your winch beyond recreational four wheeling.

    Wire winch rope can be joined in the field if it snaps. You unwind half the strands and form a loop with the other strands and wind the strands into the matching grooves on each side of the cable. Do the same with the other side after passing both sides through the loop you first made, tape off the tailing strands and you should be right, better than trying to tie a knot in cable but that maybe an option as a last resort. One huge downside with synthetic rope is it is not abrasion resistant & won't survive being pulled over sharp rocks & it's bulky and you cannot get anywhere near as much on the drum as opposed the wire cable, I'll take wire cable on my WARN winches every time.

  • @jamiemarcum8743
    @jamiemarcum8743 4 года назад

    Synthetic takes a lot of torque out of your winch,so if I’m winching and a dumbass stands by the cable, he needs a hit in the head.

  • @nickcardillo5021

    Happy with steel cable. I spray it every few months with lanolin to keep rust away. Don’t have to worry about UV exposures, getting a abraided on rocks or washing it.

  • @breadcrums7853
    @breadcrums7853 4 года назад

    You Jerks trying to sell your garbage synthetic rope. Its made of plastic and don't last very long. Everyone of your comments in this video is wrong with the synthetic rope, it does fly when broken, it fails a lot and even when it's new. It is NOT 50 times or 1.5 times then steel. It cost a lot more then steel and it is the weakest link between you and your rescue. I have never had a wire winch cable fail me in 40 years, not even in the military did i see a wire cable break. They are always 2x the strength of the winch so it can't break. The synthetic rope WILL BREAK... it is just a matter of time. If you want security in the offroad world guys... go get a wire winch cable.. you will only have to buy it once.

    40 kilos for steel cable? That is 90 lbs. I believe the shipping weight for my winch and cable was 80 lbs. This is for a 9000 lbs winch with 100 feet of cable. Where did you come up with these numbers?

    Lots of falsities here. Rope stretches and stores as much energy as cable and will certainly whip backward just like cable. It’s no more safer for anyone around if it snaps. Also you can always cut off broken or damaged cable and reattach it to the hook if you carry the stuff to do that. It doesn’t need meticulous care. Just keep it clean so sand and grit doesn’t wear at it internally.
